Varanasi is the most ancient city of the world. It is also known as Banaras. The name Banaras is taken from a king named King Banar. But now it is known as Varanasi. Varanasi is the combination of the two words river Varuna and river Assi. The city is situated between two rivers. However, the city grows far from the two rivers but the main city is between two rivers. The city is also known as Kashi.Traditionally the city is built by The God Vishwakarma who created the Earth and is believed the home of Lord Shiva.
Varanasi is the city of temples. It is good to see Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb as the temple and the mosque sharing the boundaries.

The city is made of two Tehsil Varanasi and Pindra and eight Legislative Assembly constituencies. These are Pindra, Ajgara, Rohania, Shivpue, Varanasi South, Varanasi North, Varanasi Cantt. and Sevapuri.According to the census 2011, the population of Varanasi is 36,82,194. It stays on the 75th ranking in India.
VARANASI AS A CULTURAL HERITAGE CITY
It used to be a very religious city of the world but now it is a good place to explore. It could be the most religious city in the world but because of business, it can not be stayed at the top. The inhabitants of Varanasi want to earn anyhow that spoil the soul of the city. Hinduism is here but only to see not practically. According to Hindu tradition, Lord Shiva chosen this city as a habitat. According to Hindu tradition, it is a midpoint between The Earth and Heaven.The Hindus believe that if they bathe in the holy river Ganga all of their sins would be washed. They also believe if they die here they go to heaven directly. The Ganga arrives from the western Himalayan Uttrakhand state of India and drains into Sunderban delta in The Bay of Bengal. The Hindu also believe if they bathe in the holy river Ganga they get rid of their sickness. Though it is religiously believed there is a scientific logic. The river Ganga flows from the forest of the Himalayas.The herbs of the Himalaya mix into the water of Ganga that cure the person who bathes in the water. However, these days The Ganga is not as clean as it would be so the polluted water harm too. The pollution of the factories indulges into the holy river that is very harmful to the people who bathe in it as well as the people who live on the bank of river Ganga. But government of India and the government of Utter Pradesh tries very hard to clean the holy river
